How to avoid or delay Windows Updates

You may not want all the Windows updates when Microsoft automatically downloads and installs them, because of known problems or availability on the Club CD. For Example: Internet Explorer 8, RC1 is on the club CD and XP Service Pack 3 has problems including a very long download.

Click in the circle beside "Notify me but don't actually download or install them" Click "Apply" and click "OK".

Even though "Express" is recommended, Click on "Custom".

Uncheck down the left side, updates you do not want. Click on "Review and install Updates".
