Domain Highlighting: Helps you avoid deceptive and/or phishing sites that attempt to trick you with misleading addresses.

The website for Woodgrove Bank has the address in black so you can see that it is the correct website.

In this fake website you can see the real website in black, not the Woodgrove bank. Look for the website address in black. It should be what you expect. If it is not, close IE by clicking on the "X" in the upper right of your screen. Be very careful of clicking on website addresses, or links, from your emails. They may not be websites that you want to be on.

InPrivate Browsing: When checking e-mail at an Internet café or shopping for a gift on a family PC, leave no trace of web browsing activity. Helps prevent browsing history, temporary Internet files, form data, cookies, usernames and passwords from being retained by the browser.

To use InPrivate Browsing click on "Safety", and "InPrivate Browsing".

Using this feature means you can surf the internet and leave no traces on your computer. When you are finished, just click the red X in the upper right of your screen and you will return to your IE8 browser.

Enhanced Delete Browsing History: If you forget to use InPrivate Browsing and want to delete all traces of your surfing you can delete them. Click "Safety" as before, and then "Delete Browsing History".

If you want to delete everything, have these boxes checked. If you wish to save your passwords, uncheck that box. You can preserve all browsing data from the websites in your "Favorites" by checking the top box.

Member asked how to change the home page to Google? - Navigate to Google or type in "Google.ca" without the quotes into the URL at the top of the IE screen to the right of the white arrow in the blue circle, and hit "Enter" key. - Click on "Tools", "Internet Options", and under the "General tab" click "Use current". - Click "Apply" and "OK".

Member asked if saving Favorites was any easier. - It is the same as IE7 except there is a "One Click Add to Favorites bar" button. It is a green arrow on a yellow star. One click adds the Favorite to the Favorites bar.
