  1. When checking email, how and why do you close the preview panel?
    • The email could contain a virus and with Preview enabled when you click on it opens. With Preview turned off you click on it, to highlight it, and then delete it. Go to View/ Layout then close "show previous pane".

  2. How do you put your own picture on desktop in XP?
    • On the desktop, right click the mouse then click on Properties then Desktop. Choose Browse to go to My Pictures. Select the picture you want to use on your desktop. Press Open then OK.
Another way to set a picture up on the desktop is to right click on a picture and select 'Make picture desktop background' from the menu.
Larger pictures may have to be downsized to fit the desktop.
In Windows 7, revolving desktop pictures are set up through Control Panel/Personalization/Desktop Background.
In Windows XP & Vista revolving pictures can only be set up for the screensaver.

  3. How do you deal with IE script errors?
    • Janice suggested you ignore them and continue. If the webpage does not load correctly, try updating your browser. IE 6, 7 or 8 especially are prone to that.
You can turn the message off by clicking on Tools, Internet Options then Advanced. Uncheck "Display a notification about every script error".
Windows 7 is supposed to have "fixed" that problem of script error.

  4. A member's computer has lost all sound. What causes the problem?
    • Often speakers are turned off. Click on Start/ Control Panel/ Sound. The mute box should not be ticked. Charlie outlined how to test the sound using the little button beside browsing. Try using someone else's speakers to see if the problem is the speakers or the computer settings.

  5. A member has XP and uses Firefox. Video goes from play to pause.
    • For dial up, let the video load completely before trying to play it.

  6. Do I need to delete the old version of Panda Cloud before installing the new version?
    • Yes. It is better than installing over the old version. Panda Cloud will uninstall and then install the new version but this requires a restart.

  7. A member's camera was recognized by his computer. Then it was disconnected and when reconnected, the PC recognized the camera but the software said the camera was offline.
    • Uninstall then reinstall the software or go to system restore to a date before it stopped working.
