How to get Email from other
accounts, sent to your Gmail account, and how to use Gmail to send from
your other email account.
Gmail's Mail Fetcher can download
messages from up to five other email accounts, centralizing all your
email in your Gmail account.
The email accounts you would
like to fetch from must support POP access and, in the case of Gmail
accounts, have POP access enabled. This will not work for Hotmail, Yahoo
Mail or other web based email accounts.
After setting up Mail Fetcher,
Gmail will check your other Email accounts and they will appear automatically
in your Gmail.
Click Settings from
the top of your Gmail.
Click Accounts.
In the Get mail from other
accounts section, click Add another mail account.
Top of Page
Enter the full email address
of the account you would like to access, then click Next Step.
Fill in the Username, POP Server
fields and Port, provided by your ISP.
Enter your Password.
If you would like to automatically
label all messages that are retrieved from your non-Google account,
select option "Label incoming messages". You can choose to use the
predefined label (your email address), or you can select an existing
label, or create a new one from the drop-down list.
Click on the V, at the end
of "Label incoming messages" and choose your label.

Click Add Account when
finished.

Once your account has been
added successfully, you'll have the option of setting it as a custom
From address. This allows you to compose messages in Gmail, but have
them appear to be sent from your other email account.
Click on Next Step
Check or Change the Name and
Email address, and click on Next Step
Gmail will verify that you
own this address. Click on Send Verification

Gmail will send the verification
to the Email account you just added to Gmail.
Open this account, and when
the Email arrives click on it.
Click on the link given in
the Email .
You should get this message.
Click to return to your Gmail account.
Check and see that you can
send an Email from Gmail and your other account.

Click on Settings. Then
click on Accounts.
We have added we have added our KOS.net email account
to our Gmail account.
Now click on Compose Mail
Then click on the check mark:
and you will see that you can
send from Gmail or your Email account you added.
Send from the account you wish
by clicking on your choice. You may wish to send from the Email
account you just added, if for example, you want to send an email to
Sympatico. Sympatico wants you to use their email address.
One other consideration:
You should keep Outlook Express
as you default email account.
When you are surfing the net,
and want to Send a Link by Email, Gmail will not do it, if it
is your default. To send a link you must keep OE as your default.
When in Outlook Express, click
on Options, then General and under
Default Messaging Programs,
click on Make Default.
