    • To use the email filter effectively, it is better to have multiple labels (folders)
    • To create a new label, click on "Edit Labels" at the bottom of your label box.
    • In the new window of all your labels, go to the bottom and enter the new name in the "Create a new label:" box and click "Create".
    • To apply a color to the label, move your mouse to the right side of the label name in the label box, when a small down arrow appears, click. You have a choice of 12 different colours.
    • To apply a filter to your incoming email, you must have the full incoming email address.
    • Click on "Show Details". Copy the full email address by holding down your mouse key and dragging across the address (inside < >). When highlighted, press "Ctrl" and "C" keys.
    • At the top of the screen, beside the "Search the Web" box, click on Create a filter

    • Click a check mark in the "Also apply filter" box, and click "Create Filter"

  10. Member noted that the club did not request automatic updates for AVG.

      Answer:

    • Charlie said that all updates on the club computer are turned off for meetings because we do not need the interruptions.

  11. Member uses Gmail – however, when forwarding mail or composing mail – he can’t read the suggested names because of the background colour.

      Answer:

    • Standard view and basic HTML view
    • Standard view is what you'll see when you sign in to Gmail from a fully supported browser.
    • In case you don't have access to a fully supported browser, they still want you to have access to Gmail -- that's why they've developed a basic HTML view of their service that's compatible with almost any browser.
    • If you sign in to Gmail using a browser that isn't fully supported, you'll automatically be directed to the basic HTML view.
    • The basic HTML view is a little different from what you're used to because the following features aren't available:
      • Filter creation
      • Spell checker
      • Keyboard shortcuts
      • Address auto-complete
      • Custom From addresses
    • If you need to access these features, please sign in to Gmail from a fully supported browser, and make sure you have cookies and JavaScript enabled.
    • If you're directed to the basic HTML view of Gmail, but would like to try using the standard Gmail view, visit http://mail.google.com/mail?nocheckbrowser.
    • Keep in mind that standard view may not work, even with this link, if your browser isn't supported.
    • If this does not resolve the problem, contact Google through the Gmail Help page with the following subject line: "Background transparency in Contact window when selecting a Contact email address by entering an initial - text is not viewable - How can I correct this?"

  12. Member wants to stop message that you have a security problem.

      Answer:

    • Double click on the red shield icon in the notification area
    • Click on Change the way Security Center alerts me.
    • Under Alert Settings uncheck the alerts you do not want and click OK.
