PREAMBLE:
Printkey can be downloaded from the Software page.

Suggestions on Using Printkey:

Once you have it installed, it will reside on the left side of the toolbar at the bottom of your screen. It's icon is the finger touching a key.

To activate Printkey, click on the icon once and it will show on the toolbar that includes your clock...as below:

When you are at the point where you want to capture something on your screen, then double-click your left mouse button on the Printkey icon on the toolbar near your clock. (as shown above).

When you have opened Printkey, it will appear like the image below:

You will notice that I had to capture the image of Prinkey with Smart Capture Pro, because Prinkkey cannot capture an image of itself. The image shown in the working frame of Printkey is actually the inside working frame of Smart Capture Pro. This software is SHAREWARE, while Printkey is FREE!

Because there is no HELP file with Printkey, everything is based on intuition. For example: If you want to capture just a small area of the screen you must click on: which is located on the top menu bar. This will make the Printkey window disappear and after a slight pause (set in options), you will see a plus sign which can be moved by your mouse to the top left corner of the area that you wish to capture...just hold down the left mouse key and drag the mouse to the bottom right corner of the area to be captured and let go. (During the drag, you will see a rectangle defined by dotted lines to show you what will be included in the image).

Printkey will pop up on your screen with the image area inside it's working area. You now can decide what to do with the image. If you want to save it, Click on and select the folder and file format to save it.

If you want to print it, make your choices in the options area:

then click on and it will print.

If you just want to print the whole screen, just press your Print Screen button on your keyboard. It is usually located on the top right side of the keyboard, after the F1 to F12 buttons. Be sure to set the printer options available under that special tab (see image above) before pressing the Print Screen button.
NOTE: This will only be active when the Prinkkey icon is in the bottom right side of the toolbar near the clock.

The best way to learn any more about Printkey is to play around with it and try different things. If you stumble on a neat trick that seems out of the ordinary, please send me an e-mail so that I can add it to this tip.
